In the first part of presentation a general overview of artificial intelligence (AI) and essential concepts and areas will be given. The second part is devoted to several contemporary areas of AI and some examples will be presented: role and challenges of machine learning, robotics, smart environments. At the end key challenges and future developments and possible applications of AI will be outlined.

Data presented in form of time series as its analysis and applications recently have become increasingly important in different areas and domains. As some kind of big data they are interesting for machine learning, prediction and decision support. In this presentation brief overview of some recently important standard problems, activities and models necessary for time series analysis and applications are presented. At the end some specific practical applications will be discussed.
